Startup Canada recently started an effort to raise funds through Indiegogo crowdfunding platform. This is better known as Startup Canada Connect.
The Startup Canada program full of entrepreneurial rush and high on innovation, is a non-profit network and commenced on May 2012 to hold the Canadian entrepreneurial flag high up in the air.
Startup Canada is the thoughtwork of Victoria Lennox and Cyprian Szalankiewicz to add more zest to the Canadian startup ecosystem. Then back in May 2012 they were also a startup themselves. The mission behind Startup Canada was to breathe in some more life to the unorganized and disconnected entrepreneurial network. This would also bring together resources and fill the void that existed in the ecosystem therein. Since its start, Startup Canada has embarked on an adventerous 6 month cross-country journey to build community and gathered around 20,000 enthusiastic Canadians and 300 partners spiced uo with 200 events organized by hundress of volunteers.
Startup Canada joined hands with Indiegogo to raise more funds since it is a volunteer run institution.
“We definitely know that we wanted to provide a personalized dashboard for Canadian entrepreneurs to access the services available to them in their community and nationally. But what we really wanted to do is to give the community an opportunity not just to rank support but to access the support, so they can actually comment on the level of services that were provided so that we can provide that feedback back to service providers.” exclaims Lennox in an interview as mentioned on Techcrunch.
The ultimate goal is to have an infinite feedback loop so that local services better resources for startups. The funding target is a $100,000 along with a lot of support from the government as well as from private organizations.
